Ojala Floral Wedding Gallery for Angel & Scott
Angel and Scott were married underneath a white billowing sari trimmed in gold embroidery Angel wore through India as their love for one another blossomed. I draped her Sari over a birch chuppah and decorated the structure with marigolds that stained my fingers in earthy fragrance, cascading bougainvillea with onion skin thin petals and wild, winter berried vine which I had foraged from a secret spot down the road. I sat upon the ground of the ceremony site and shredded buckets upon buckets of marigolds and divided them amongst woven baskets placing them at random on awaiting chairs.
She spoke of vibrant colors in a rainbow of pure chakra hues AND saw marigolds strewn about their feet and showered upon their bodies during ceremony.
Guests encircled Angel and Scott as they lead a kirtan upon the eve of their next journey of love and devotion, now together as one.
A Journey of Love and Devotion
Beneath my work station a kaliedescope of vivid jewel tones where two dogs lazily slumbered amongst the petals. The scene brought me to what I had envisioned the first time I spoke on the phone with Angel. In a precise and angelic voice, she wove a story of she and Scott’s devotion, first to the practice of yoga, which lead them to love as they journeyed through India each exploring their own practice. She spoke of vibrant colors in a rainbow of pure chakra hues and saw marigolds strewn about their feet and showered upon their bodies during ceremony. They envisioned being surrounded by family and their yogic community in flower, prayer and song

Given the weather, ceremony and reception had made a last minute move to the sheltering of a tent but so far, moisture had only been gathering. The dense atmosphere created the perfect filter for the crisp whites of Angel and Scott’s traditional wedding clothes against the vibrant tones of the flowers that adorned them. Matt and Jess brilliantly photographed the couple through the soft focus of late autumn against the lush landscapes of the ranch- tropical leaves coated in a dewy gloss and agaves ripe with rain.
Just in time for ceremony, the skies opened. I loaded my truck in showers while listening to the warm and muffled sounds of happiness coming through the tent. Just as ceremony was closing, the rains lifted. All of the participants poured from the tent to look into the deep, darkening valley of the riverbottom and expansive pink sunset skies hovering over the Topa Topas. Guests encircled Angel and Scott as they lead a kirtan upon the eve of their next journey of love and devotion, now together as one.
